This project was one of the biggest reline jobs undertaken by CWS because there were two very large steel Braithwaite tanks on site that were very heavily corroded. The tanks were structurally sound so we wanted to try and retain them for a number of reasons; budget, impact on site and environmental sustainability. We put a project plan together and quoted to repair and reline the tanks.
A summary of the works is described below:
- Full confined space entry.
- Shot blast abrasion of the entire tank and then once completed clean the tank and vacuum all dust.
- Coat the tank with a stripe coat and two full coats of a DWI approved epoxy coating.
